Notes on Customs Clearance for Test Items

When importing goods into Germany, import duties ("customs duties") generally apply. The applicant or sender bears sole responsibility for the proper and legally compliant customs clearance of the test specimens.

If the imported goods are so-called test items (i.e., products intended for testing, analysis, or experimental purposes), an exemption from customs duties may be requested pursuant to Articles 95 et seq. of the Customs Duty Relief Regulation. Relevant information and the forms required for the customs declaration are available on the German Customs website (only in German).

Please ensure that these customs requirements are observed carefully. BAM does not perform any customs-related tasks on behalf of applicants. Failure to complete customs clearance correctly, or errors in the customs process, may result in the test specimens being denied importation, and the requested service may therefore be unable to be provided.

BAM is a senior scientific and technical Federal institute with responsibility
to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
