The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) executes tasks set out in the German Explosives Act (SprengG) and in dangerous goods regulations (GGVSEB) for all kinds of explosive substances and articles.
BAM is a notified body (identification no. 0589) for the conformity assessment procedure of civil explosives (blasting explosives, propellants, detonators) according to European Directive 2014/28/EU and for the conformity assessment procedure of pyrotechnic articles according to European Directive 2013/29/EU.
BAM is the national authority for approvals of blasting accessories under the German Explosives Act and for national approvals of explosive substances used in chemical industry without an aim of generating an explosion (otherwise explosive substances).
BAM is also authority for the assignment of explosives to storage groups and compatibility groups of all kinds of explosive substances and articles (explosives, pyrotecnic articles, otherwise explosive substances) according to national legislation for storage, but also according to dangerous goods regulations for transport.
By offering publication lists with approvals, certificates and classifications BAM fulfils its obligation set out in § 13 of the 1st Ordinance to the Explosives Act. The lists are organised by categories as given below.
