3.4 Life span inspection of UN composite pressure receptacles

The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing BAM is in accordance with §6 (5) GGVSee (March 2014) and LuftVZO § 78 (3) the competent authority for the procedure for monitoring the operational safety respectively the extension of the service life, which is described in RID / ADR 6.2.2.1.1 NOTE 2 and analogously to IMDG Code 6.2.2.1.1 NOTE 2 and IATA 6.4.2.1, ICAO 5.2.1.1. BAM applies the BAM GGR 021 for this purpose.

3.5 Composite pressure receptacles: determination of retest periods

Within the scope of the different responsibilities according to GGVSEB and GGVSee, BAM applies the BAM GGR 022 in conjunction with the GGR 021 for the determination of the test period for composite pressure vessels. The following documents support the procedure respectively reproduce the associated specifications.

3.6 ATRs concerning pressure receptacles

Accepted Technical Regulations (ATRs) are national technical codes recognized in accordance with RID/ADR 6.2.5 by BAM as competent authority in agreement with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS). These technical codes are published in the Official Gazette of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development “Verkehrsblatt” in an English and a German version and have been submitted to the competent OTIF and UN ECE Secretariats. The use of technical codes recognized by the German competent authority in accordance with RID/ADR 6.2.5 is hereby confirmed for the use in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany, only. A German ATR may be used in the territory of another RID/ADR-member state if it is accepted by the relevant national competent authority including the corrigendum by Nr. 155 VkBl. Heft 22-2010; S 554, rendering the fifth paragraph in above mentioned excerpt void.
